Much of the success and failures in scrapbooking, cardmaking and paper crafting depends on the reliability of the paste or adhesive you choose to stick your precious projects together.
If you have been to a craft store and perused the adhesive aisle, it’s apparent the choices are abundant. How do you know which adhesive to use? Spray, tape runner, or which of the vast assortment of glues? Let’s chat it out so when you are in a sticky situation, you know which adhesive to reach for!
Here are the Big Do’s:
•Choose acid-free, PH neutral, labeled safe for scrapbooking.
Non acid free adhesives can cause yellowing of paper/pictures.
**Beware of the innocent act of using a sticky note on a photo or layout.
They can leave traces of acid and adhesive that may lead to deterioration down the line.
•Use the smallest amount of adhesive necessary to make your elements stick.
•Try out different brands of tape runners to find what you like.
Tape runners come in refillable, disposable, strips, dots, repositionable, and permanent
•Avoid Glue Sticks:
Even if they are acid free. Glue sticks have a tendency to become brittle causing
elements to fall off layouts later.
•Avoid Rubber Cement:
Although they dry highly pliable, the acid content is high.
**Beware—some rubber cements are now labeled as acid free but just don’t risk it!
•Avoid Permanent Adhesives:
If you think you may want to remove the photo later, permanent adhesives aren’t a good idea.
In this instance, photo corners may be your best bet.
Two Main Types of Adhesives:
Wet vs Dry

We always strive to bring you the latest products and ideas as they hit the craft industry. We couldn’t be more excited to share a new platform with you!
